New Balance has launched their 2022 Chinese New Year collection that draws inspiration from the poetry line ‘In me, the tiger sniffs the rose. (虎嗅蔷 薇)’ from Siegfried Sassoon’s ‘In Me, Past, Present, Future Meet’. In the spirit of New Balance’s Fearlessly Independent brand ethos, the theme in the Year of the Tiger, celebrates those who embrace their individuality, are limitless and unapologetically work towards their passions. True to the nature of a tiger’s characteristics of being bold yet graceful, fearless yet calculated.
The CNY 2022 Collection The CNY 2022 collection features apparel and three silhouettes of shoes – XC-72, 57/40 and 327.
The colour palettes for this collection were heavily inspired by the spirit of ‘In me, the tiger sniffs the rose. (虎嗅蔷薇)’. Shades of black with brown undertones and olive highlights represent resolution and bravery while the lighter blue, pinks and greens represents tranquillity and gracefulness.
A Roaring Display
This year, the Paragon and Jewel stores will be having an exclusive CNY in store display. As part of New Balance’s commitment to achieving sustainability, the centre piece of the display, a Tiger head, is made using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified corrugated board. This means that the wood used in the production of the corrugated board is sourced from forests responsibly and the entire production process of the material is sustainable. The Tiger head can also be recycled after the display period.
The Chinese New Year Collection is now available at New Balance Stores in Paragon, Jewel Changi, Suntec City and Bugis Junction. It are also available at newbalance.com.sg, Foot Locker and Limited Edt. The New Balance 327 retails at $159, the New Balance 57/40 retails at $169 and the XC-72 retails at $189.
