Run for Beer 2017 – Launch of Singapore’s Hoppiest Run

Come Friday, 24 November 2017, the city’s premier nightlife destination Clarke Quay will host Singapore’s largest beer running event. The inaugural Run for Beer 2017 aims to celebrate friendship, bonding and active living through the common love for beer.

It will be the first time that a beer-related sport event will be held and promoted in the heart of the city. The race will start at Clarke Quay’s Fountain Square and follows through a breezy 3.2km running route along the Singapore River, showcasing some of Singapore’s cityscape landmarks such as the Raffles Landing Site, Boat Quay and Cavenagh Bridge. The route’s finish line will bring runners back to Clarke Quay where they will be ‘rewarded’ with beer and exclusive F&B discounts at various merchant partners. At  the Fountain Square, there will also be a host of post-run activities that include live band performances, stage games and more.

As the founder of the Cold Storage Kids Run and GE Women’s 10K, Enterprise Sports Group (ESG) now explores bringing together the passion points of running and beer. “We recognise that there is a segment of people who love beer as much as leading an active lifestyle. We decided to put together this social fun event in heart of the city. Running has always been a popular sport in Singapore and enjoying a good beer, especially among friends, is just as beloved,” said Mr David Sim, Executive Director of event organiser ESG.

“We see Run for Beer as the ideal event where participants can hang out with good friends for the perfect TGIF by getting a simple work out before enjoying the cold beers and continuing to have a great time at Clarke Quay. We also want to use this event as a platform to promote responsible drinking and will be working closely with event partners in this area.”

It is also strongly encouraged that participants creatively dress up for the event as they stand to win attractive prizes across five fancy dress categories, namely “Best Dressed: Male, Female, Team, Organisation and CEO”. ESG is working closely with a costume partner to provide discounts, further encouraging participants to bring colour and vibrancy to the event.

“As one of Singapore’s most popular riverfront lifestyle destinations, Clarke Quay is synonymous with entertainment and good food. We are thus excited to host the first Run for Beer. We have a wide range of F&B and entertainment outlets within Clarke Quay that cater to different groups of people; making it possible for the event’s participants to continue their merriment into the night with their buddies. Hosting Run for Beer further reinforces Clarke Quay’s position at the forerunner of new and exciting events,” said Mr Adrian Lai, Centre Manager of Clarke Quay.

All participants will receive a specially-designed event tee, finisher’s medal and special promotions from participating Clarke Quay outlets as well as complimentary cold beers, which will only be served to participants after completing the run on event day.

“At ESG, we like to present new event experiences to people. We look forward to a strong participation in this event and will really like to thank our corporate partners Clarke Quay, American Express and TimeOut Singapore for their support in our endeavor,” said David Sim.

Run for Beer 2017 registration commenced on Monday, 4 September 2017.
