Dior Homme has recently opened their flagship store at Marina Bay Sands. Carrying a wide range of the high-end designer goods from ready-to-wear and leather goods, to accessories and fragrance from the iconic fashion label. The store gives off a minimalist aura, an effortlessly sleek interior design, suiting the merchandise that Dior Homme has to offer. 1) Started from the bottom, now we here
Dior followed his parents’ wishes and went to the Ecole des Sciences Politiques from the year 1920 to the year 1925. In order to make money, he sold the fashion sketches on the streets for around ten cents each.
2) Dior’s unknown death
Dior passed away during the year 1957 when he was on a vacation in Montecatini. What was the cause of his death? There is a lot of speculation on this even till now. Many reported that he died of a heart attack after getting choked on a fish bone. In the obituary of Time Magazine, it was stated that he died of a heart attack after he was done playing cards. Then, you have others stating he had a heart attack after a sexual encounter. Some individuals even say he passed away from a seizure.
3) Dior Homme’s logo
The logo used now by Dior Homme is a bee, usually in the bottom right-hand side of knit wear and the top right side in polo shirts. A minimalist design but for fashion moguls it is an icon.
4) Hedi Slimane’s legacy
In 2000, a 22-year-old Parisian named Hedi Slimane was appointed designer-in-chief of Dior’s menswear. He scrapped the Monsieur suffix, replaced it with “Homme”, and presented collection after collection of mostly black, extremely tight tailoring and luxury casual wear. Slimane style is easily recognizable, even after leaving Dior Homme and being a part of Yves Saint Laurent, now simply known as Saint Laurent Paris.
5) Karl Lagerfeld’s controversy
Designer Karl Lagerfeld shed several pounds especially to try Dior Homme for himself, saying that “[his] only ambition in life is to wear size 28 jeans.” American band Green Day also embarked on diet before getting fitted into Dior Homme for one tour.
