FATCAT – A Remarkable Ice-Cream Dessert Stop

Tucked at the little corner of Bedok North is a new gem that serves up some remarkable ice-cream desserts. FATCAT Ice Cream Bar is the latest addition to the growing popularity of cafes in heartland neighborhoods, serving up often imaginative and obscure treats for all ages.

The small and cozy bar greeted us with ice-creams that are “made from scratch.” FATCAT does not disclose the available flavors as they depend on the fresh ingredients they can get hold of – you can expect up to 18 freshly made ice-cream daily but some flavors are seasonal. Unless you on luck, you may not be able to find the same flavor on your next visit.

To excite you with some of its uniqueness: some flavors we tried includes the White Peach Sangria, Butter Beer and Passionfruit.

Other than the ice-cream, FATCAT serves up remarkable desserts. There are several starters before the main dessert is served, and all in good faith.

Eggnog Pudding

Tom Yum Shaved Ice

Mojito Sphere is one of my favourite starters uniquely created by the pâtissier – the thin but packed spheres burst in your mouth, a zesty pop.

The Strawberry Cheesecake is as deconstructed as you can imagine; served with a raspberry sorbet on a shortbread crumble and cream mousse, finishing off with mint leaves as garnishing. The mousse is light and the sorbet is refreshing, a perfect dessert to end after a heavy meal.

Banana Nutella Desser is a sweet treat with no ends – caramelized banana with Nutella soil served with Honey and Hay ice-cream. The Honey and Hay (yes, hay, those that rabbits eat but the edible version for human) is light, and its weights carried across by the Nutella soil, which tastes more nutty than chocolaty.

Not to forget, the wildly popular (and very photogenic) Charcoal Waffles with Salted Egg drizzles from FATCAT that has since made its rounds on Instagram very rapidly. Many noted that the waffles get sold out very early. Demand is high, so to avoid disappointment, do head there early for a taste yourself!

FATCAT Ice Cream Bar brings some really pretty and palatable treats into the heartland of the East. With its growing popularity for its delightful aesthetics, it is a new dessert spot to look out for.
