The countdown is on. This Friday, Sammi Zhen steps onto the stage for her upcoming talk show. Asked how she's feeling as the big day approaches, she gives a candid answer: "Excited and nervous."

Ahead of the event, The FLUX Media caught up with Sammi to find out what audiences can look forward to, what makes this show different, and whether there are surprises in store. Will there be unexpected revelations, candid conversations, or moments that stay with audiences long after the lights come up? We put 12 questions to her, hoping she'd share just enough to get everyone talking.

A more personal turn

Sammi is used to putting other people at the centre of the conversation. This time, the spotlight is on her.

"This show is more in-depth. Usually I talk about others, but this time I talk more about myself," she says.

She knows that's a change for those who have followed her work, and she meets it with her usual humour. Her invitation to the audience is simple: "Come to know me a little better, lol."

Looking back, stepping forward

Preparing for the show has been an emotional exercise. Asked what rehearsals have been like, Sammi says they've brought up "everything", adding that it feels "like looking back after all these years."

The show is also a milestone. It is her first ticketed public show, and she calls it a big step. "It's important for me to share my journey," she says. The occasion carries personal weight because it asks her to reflect on how far she has come.

Surprises, even for Sammi

Audiences can expect at least one surprise. Sammi will be joined by a special guest performer, and she notes that it's the first time in a long time she has had one. She's keeping the details to herself.

As for unscripted moments, the show's tagline may be more literal than it sounds. When asked whether spontaneous, revealing conversations are likely, she laughs: "Always! I don't even know what will happen myself, actually 😂"

Should audiences prepare to laugh, cry or reflect? Sammi won't be pinned down. "Everything!! For those who bought the tickets, you'll know."

Trust, and a few trust issues

Talk shows live or die on chemistry, so we asked about the personalities sharing the stage with her. Sammi says she is careful about who she works with. "I only work with people I trust. I've got trust issues, hahaha." We tried to get her to name who might surprise the audience most, but she kept that card close to her chest.

The takeaway

Beneath the humour, Sammi has a clear message she hopes audiences will carry home. "Love cannot wait. Life is short and unpredictable," she says. It's a line that suits a show about looking back on her own journey, and it hints that the evening may go beyond entertainment.

That doesn't mean the night will be heavy. Completing the sentence "If you're coming to the show this Friday, be prepared for…", she doesn't hesitate:

"Be prepared to have lots of fun and laughter."

Too late for tickets?

For anyone still deciding whether to go, we asked Sammi for her final pitch. The answer shows she has a sense of humour about the whole thing:

"Sold out liao. Next time buy early lah :-)"

So the show is already sold out. For the audience who secured their seats in time, Friday promises laughter, heart, a special guest and a few surprises, possibly even for Sammi herself.
