While many local farms face the prospect of a young generation wanting to swop the outdoors life for an air-conditioned office, Chelsea went against popular belief to work at her father’s frog farm. She, like any other girls, would have taken up a 9 to 5 job upon her graduation from NUS. However, a school project opened her eyes to the possibility of furthering her family business. The 31-year-old “frogologist” utilised her marketing skills and started conducting educational tours there. Determined to grow the business further, she convinced medical halls and restaurants to use dried hashima made from oviduct fat of frogs at her farm. Continuing her innovation, she further developed bottles of ready-to-eat hashima – also known as snow jelly, growing a traditional frog farm to a sustainable business.
