Delight in the Dishes & Deco @ Flee Away Cafe

Fancy a cafe with oldies music playing in the background and lots of antique decoration? If you do, then Flee Away Cafe is your best bet!

???????????????????????????????

There are lots of toys and old stuff on display in this cafe. It’s like you are in a mini-museum of things that were once popular or part of the past. They also have a section where they sell vintage toys.

???????????????????????????????

There is certainly much thought and effort put into the decoration of this cafe. You can probably play a game of I spy and recognise a lot of things that were once familiar to us.

???????????????????????????????

The whole concept of this cafe is one that is like a throwback to the past, a place that reminds us of our childhood, as we get to see the objects that were once so familiar to us.

???????????????????????????????

This is the large menu that shows what Flee Away Cafe has to offer in terms of food. There are very unique selections available, just in case you think that it is your usual average cafe. For their mains, they offer le char kuey or tortilla wraps with a variety of fillings.

Some special things to note about the cafe is that it does not serve pork/lard and there is no GST or service charge.

???????????????????????????????

Introducing the beef hash pie tee as our starter! It is strongly recommended if you don’t know what to choose as starters. Fill up the pie tee shells with the beef filling and take a bite. It makes for an awesome appetiser, with the beef filling being salty and the pie tee shells giving it a crunch.

???????????????????????????????

The beverages offered at Flee Away Cafe may seem ordinary but they have a different taste that make them unique. I ordered an iced chocolate and was pleasantly surprised by its sweetness and there was this marshmallow flavour to it. Not your ordinary iced chocolate for sure.

???????????????????????????????

As for our mains, we decided to order their special fillings, bak kwa and dry laksa. This is le cha kuey with chicken bak kwa. It is nice and chewy and doesn’t taste bland at all because there is wasabi mayo in it! The combination is unique as it fuses different ingredients together and gives a very special taste to it.

???????????????????????????????

Tortilla wrap with dry laksa. It is really good! The flavour of laksa was nice and strong in this dish. The filling really resembles that of laska, with there being egg and fish cake and it definitely went well with the tortilla wrap.

???????????????????????????????

For desserts, we had Irish Cream Mud Pie. A sweet and chocolately ice cream, it is the perfect dessert for sweet-tooths.

???????????????????????????????

All in all, this cafe is really a nice place to chill out at, as it has a really nice ambience with oldies music playing and a really unique selection of food. If that’s not enough, you can always walk around the cafe and take plenty of photographs of the toys or antiques on display.
