TRIP.COM expands its 'Pay it Forward' campaign

Trip.com is expanding its ‘Pay It Forward’ campaign to include hotel stays for beneficiaries from disadvantaged backgrounds.

From today, Trip.com users may utilize their SingapoRediscovers Vouchers to book and donate room nights at Mandarin Orchard Singapore and RedDoorz to support beneficiaries from Fei Yue Community Services and Daughters Of Tomorrow (DOT) respectively. Users may also use their Trip Coins to offset the bookings. The donations will cover the entire cost of the room stay for the beneficiaries, and the hotels will liaise with the beneficiaries on the date and requirements for the room bookings.

Under Trip.com’s “Daughters Of Tomorrow-RedDoorz” Pay It Forward programme, the bookings will be redeemed for DOT’s beneficiaries who require temporary accommodation due to various reasons, including domestic abuse.

The “Fei Yue Community Services-Mandarin Orchard Singapore” programme will allow beneficiaries from low-income families to experience a staycation with their loved ones in the coming months.

Trip.com introduced the first ‘Pay It Forward’ programme on 1 December 2020 to complement the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers campaign. The initiative enables Singaporeans to donate the products bought using their SRVs – such as attractions or tours tickets – to specific local beneficiary groups, while supporting the local tourism sector.

Singaporeans who are keen to donate their SRV products to the selected beneficiary groups can visit Trip.com’s ‘Pay It Forward’ page, https://sg.trip.com/t/payitforward, select the type and quantity of tickets or room nights they wish to purchase and donate to the beneficiaries.

Ms Cheryl Chen, Fundraising and Events Manager, Daughters Of Tomorrow, said: “We are honoured to be the benefitting charity of this wonderful collaboration by Trip.com and RedDoorz. At Daughters Of Tomorrow, we support our DOT women in regaining their confidence and back-to-work journey. We hope that through finding sustainable livelihood opportunities, they may work towards social mobility for their families. In the past year, we have seen an increase in the number of women seeking emergency housing due to less than ideal situations at home. The "Pay It Forward" campaign will help provide these women with interim housing while they find alternative permanent housing solutions. Thank you in advance for your kind generosity and support.”

Mr Leng Chin Fai, Executive Director, Fei Yue Community Services, said: “This initiative truly demonstrates the community spirit amongst Singaporeans, and Fei Yue is deeply grateful to Trip.com and Mandarin Orchard for supporting this. We are sure that our beneficiaries will appreciate this staycation privilege.”

Mr Danny Wong, Hotel Manager of Mandarin Orchard Singapore, said: “We are grateful for this opportunity to be part of Trip.com’s ‘Pay It Forward’ campaign. Closest to our hearts at Mandarin Orchard Singapore are causes that bring about positive and meaningful impact on families and the community. We laud Trip.com for this worthy initiative that brings Singaporeans together in the spirit of giving back, while also supporting the local tourism industry especially during these difficult times.”

Ms Kash Randhawa, Property Manager of RedDoorz, said: “RedDoorz believes strongly in the importance of giving back to the community and we are delighted to be part of Trip.com's ‘Pay It Forward’ campaign. Through this programme, we hope to support the women at Daughters Of Tomorrow who require temporary accommodation due to reasons beyond their control. To benefit as many beneficiaries as possible, RedDoorz will provide one-for-one matching for room nights donated by the public during the campaign. Let us come together and help others lead better lives.”

Ms Ru Yi, Area General Manager, Trip.com, said: “At Trip.com, we feel that it is our responsibility and privilege to collaborate with social service agencies and non-profit organisations which have been doing an amazing job empowering and caring for those who are more vulnerable or in need in our society. Daughters Of Tomorrow has been empowering underprivileged and vulnerable women from low-income families, and Fei Yue Community Services has been supporting the vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals and families for three decades.

“We are extremely grateful to the many Singaporeans who have supported our ‘Pay It Forward’ campaign since its launch. We would like to thank Mandarin Orchard Singapore and RedDoorz for joining us in this campaign, and we look forward to the continued support from our community.”
