Wanting to feast your stomach on small bites after a long day of shopping? The Catch ‘N Bite Simple Bites Food Fair is the way to go this September.
Located in the heart of the Singapore’s shopping district, the Catch ‘N Bite gourmet seafood takeaway joint comes alive at Takashimaya Basement 2 Food Hall from 8th to 24th September 2014. This takeaway joint features the best-selling seafood dishes in their store for customers to enjoy a small bite whilst shopping. The enticing and mouth-watering aroma can be picked up from afar. Catch ‘N Bite has also recently opened their main outlet at Westgate Mall and has received many well-rated reviews.
The store also takes into consideration the cleanliness of the food by using gloves in their preparation. The employees make it a point to put on a smile and provide good customer service, which adds on to one’s overall impression of the store.
The Ultimate Crab Sandwich is a “must-try” item in the store. Although the crab is deep-fried, its oiliness is well balanced with the freshness of the juicy tomato and crunchy lettuce. The specialty sauce enhances the taste of the crab and adds on to the enriching flavor of the sandwich.
Another side dish that definitely cannot be missed out is the top-selling fresh seafood tarts: crab tart, lobster tart, egg mayo ebiko (top row from left to right), smoked salmon salsa, mango chutney shrimp and the smoked salmon sour cream (bottom row from left to right). During this food fair, you can purchase them in bulk up to 16 pieces per box.
Crab Tart
The buttery and slight salty tart is accompanied with the crab paste, corn bits and lettuce. The crunchy corn bits completes this small bite by complementing the crabmeat with a tinge of sweetness, leaving one with a smooth mouth feel.
Lobster Tart
This sweetness and chewiness of the lobster meat infuses perfectly with the saltiness of the tart.
Egg Mayo Ebiko
Topping up this tart are small fish eggs, which burst continuously in one’s mouth with every bite. It is accompanied by the subtle taste of the egg mayo and the crunchy green lettuce.
Smoked Salmon Salsa
This tart has a tomato-based, followed by a smoky taste with a tinge of tobacco, leaving one with a lingering aftertaste of the smoke salmon.
Mango Chutney Shrimp
The sweetness of the mango is brought out in its full flavour initially, but is soon overcome by the saltiness of the tart, leaving one with a subtle taste of the fresh shrimp.
Smoked Salmon Sour Cream
The lightness of sour cream blends perfectly with the saltiness of the smoked salmon.
The Ultimate Lobster Sandwich is a favourite that cannot be missed. On the first bite, one can taste the sweetness of the lobster, which is not overpowered by the taste of the egg mayo sauce. This complements the overall taste of the sandwich, bringing out its sweetness and chewiness of the fresh lobster to its fullest. This specialty dish is the only one that is served cold on the inside.
The threesome Cre’o Bites is highly recommended if one wishes to eat and walk. The packaging of the bites is designed to be hand-held size for convenience. Out of these three bites, the specialty sauce goes best with the fried fish, leaving a moist and tender mouth feel.
