Feel the Fresh Pasta @ Concetto by Saveur

Concetto can be spotted in the distance as one approaches The Cathay. The restaurant is surrounded with glass panels that make it stand out.

The restaurant is opened by the very same founders of Saveur, Chef Dylan Ong and Chef Joshua Khoo. If you enjoyed French food at Saveur, you should try dining at Concetto.

The restaurant is designed with a modern industrial theme that is cosy and casual, perfect for friends and family to dine at. There are two levels and it is an open kitchen concept.


As one can observe, the kitchen is an open concept. Local chefs with Italian background prepare the food and customers can catch the chefs in action!


There is also a mini-garden located in the restaurant. Some of the herbs used in cooking are grown in the garden. This is certainly a very cool concept.


For appetizers, there is the grilled octopus which is specially imported from Spain and served with a salad. The octopus was well cooked and easy to chew and complimented well with the salad that gave it a refreshing taste.


Concetto salad is one of Concetto’s signature dishes. It is interpreted in a special way. It contains 4 different types of tomatoes; tomato roma, marinated cherry tomatoes, tomato confit, honey cherry tomato and is served with homemade herb pesto with dehydrated olives, finished with argula and balsamic vinaigrette. This being my personal favorite, I would strongly recommend you to try it. The different textures of the ingredients make a very delightful combination.

The Minestrone soup is very different from minestrone soup served in other restaurants. The stock of the soup is actually produced from the rind of the Parmesan to produce a cheesy flavor. We were pleasantly surprised with the taste of the soup as it was really unique and flavorful.


The beef oyster blade was cooked for 36 hours and was really tender and juicy. It was easy to cut and had this melt in your mouth sensation. It is no doubt a must try for meat lovers.


Concetto’s specialty is fresh pasta. Pasta is made on the day itself and precut dough is used. Everything is produced from scratch so a lot of time is involved in its preparation. The ingredients are fresh and no processed food is used.

The concept of the restaurant is to provide affordable Italian food that is modern and uses local produce.

Creamy pork was served with sous vide egg, confit pork, and cream sauce. The pasta was soft and creamy, a simply delectable dish with the taste of the confit pork.


Concetto is currently having a promotion for weekday lunch sets which cost $20.90++ consisting of a Minestrone or Grilled octopus, Beef Oyster Blade and a Pistachio Panna Cotta. SMU students also have a 10% discount during weekdays from 12-5pm.
